The first day at the WCA 2016 Finals has come to an end and here is a recap of today's action.
The 1.35 million RMB (~$196,000) tournament taking place in Yinchuan, China kicked off with the best-of-two, round-robin group stage.
Group A started out with a Chinese clash as TYLOO and VG.CyberZen squared off. After splitting maps with their Chinese rivals, TYLOO got victories over EDG, Immunity and ex-g3x, booking a spot in the semi-finals as they acquired enough points to finish in the top two.
TyLoo have advanced to the semi-finals
Although VG.CyberZen have one more match to play in the group stage, they are already through to the semis after they secured 2-0 wins against EDG and ex-g3x. The aforementioned two teams and Immunity will be eliminated regardless of tomorrow's results.
Here are the standings in Group A:

Group B's situation is a little bit trickier as the top two are not determined yet. Innova who lost three of their matches are definitely out of the tournament with one more match to play and Born Of Fire, who played all their matches, have not accumulated enough points to get in the top two.
The Malaysian JYP are the leaders of the group thanks to their wins against Innova and Born Of Fire. They also secured a 1-1 draw against Epsilon which boosted their chances in the group exponentially. Tomorrow JYP will face iGame.com, who won two and lost one of their matches, and a draw will see the Malaysian team through to the semi-finals without having to rely on the other match in the group which will be between Epsilon and Innova.
Epsilon got 1-1 draws against Born Of Fire and JYP. The Swedes were able to beat iGame.com but need a win in their last match against Innova in order to get through the groups.
The Group B standings can be found below:
